I think about this often.

I get a lot of attention from this website. While getting attention was the whole idea, I know enough human psychology to recognize the danger that I will get addicted to it and subconsiously self-sabotage my true goal of finding my wife.

The brain is a tricky thing but I do not think this has happened yet, and I follow a couple of personal rules to guard against this.

As for why I'm single, I can think of three reasons:

First, I spent the majority of my 20s dealing with health issues that defied diagnosis. I did have two significant relationships, but could not show up for them like I needed to.

Related, having food sensativies is not manly; it's hard to sell myself as a protector and provider when I can be defeated by a croissant.

Second, from the end my last relationship until June 2024, I have been fairly nomadic. Now, I have settled into a beautiful home and have cultivated an appealing lifestyle.

So, like a tropical bird in a David Attenbourough documentary, I expect my efforts will create mating opportunities soon.

Third, I am offering a specific life that's off the beaten path and have high, admittedly out-of-date standards for my partner. So the center of the "Women I'd Like" and "Women Who'd Like Me" Venn-Diagram is small.

However, I may be the only single and looking person in 2024 who is actually enjoying dating, and until that changes I can be as picky as I want. After all, I only need to find one.

Bonus reason! When women actually ask me this, I give this exact answer. I could say something appropriate like:

"I haven't found my match yet, but I liked your profile! Why don't we get to know each other over dinner this Saturday?"

But where's the fun in that?
